Our Background
In January 2008, a group of friends found they had common interest surrounding the ‘Green’ movement. We all knew it was more than a color and that it meant more than being categorized as a tree hugger, but that was about it. To develop our interest into knowledge we started to hold regular meetings. These meetings were casual, often centered around a chilled six pack, the sweet aroma of a summer grill, or even a morning surf session. We took turns teaching other about ‘green’ topics, viewed green documentaries, attended conventions or workshops, and networked at local green events. What we found was that ‘green’ wasn’t a fitting description for this new movement. We learned and now strongly believe that this is about living a more responsible lifestyle, focused on sustainability.
After a couple months of meeting we began to see a demand by friends, and friends of friends for a forum similar to what we created. Initially, we created Sustainable Sessions to satisfy a curiosity in a topic that we were bombarded with daily from all avenues of media. Now we realize that we can not keep this to a small group of people, we want to share this experience and knowledge with anyone that expresses the smallest spark of interest.
